  • Greetings from our newly appointed Executive Headteacher

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

    Ed Newton – About me

Hello! It is a real pleasure to introduce myself to you, the parents and carers of Bilton Community Federation.

I am thrilled to have been selected for this role and for the opportunity it presents for all of us to move forward together as 3 schools striving for the same thing… the very best for the children in our care, by uniting in building an ambitious learning community.

It was a lovely experience getting to know the schools and some of the children, staff and parents during the interview process and whilst this is only a tiny glimpse of the wider Bilton community, it showed me a group of people passionate about the education of their children.

So, I know a bit about you, but you know very little about me… I am a 47-year-old teacher of 15 years, with a partner, Laura, 4 children and 2 dogs, so I like to keep busy! We live on the outskirts of Rugby and lead an active life of sports, walking, being with friends and then collapsing in front of a good film or book.

I have taught and led in a variety of school settings from small village schools to large town primaries and international schools. This mixture of experience coupled with 10 years working in a sales and marketing environment prior to becoming a teacher, gives me an in depth understanding of both education and the wider world and how the two need to work together.

If I were to summarise my approach to teaching, leadership and education as a whole it would be… Children first and at the heart of all I do, underpinned by a drive to develop an education system that genuinely cares for and sets children up for success in our rapidly developing world.

As Bethan says, I hope to get the chance to get into the 3 schools in the coming months and get to know everyone, to allow me to hit the ground running in January.

I look forward to getting to know you all over the coming months and years.

    Regards,

    Ed Newton

  • Executive Headteacher Recruitment

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

    Dear Parent/Carer,

    Executive Headteacher Recruitment

I am pleased to advise you that we have been successful in our recruitment for an Executive Headteacher for the Bilton Community Federation and will be welcoming Ed Newton as our new Executive Headteacher, across all three schools, from 1 January 2023.

The plans we communicated to you for the leadership of our schools from September remain the same:

    ● Bilton Infant School – Mrs Harris, Headteacher

    ● Bawnmore Community Infant School – Mrs Davey, Acting Headteacher; following the retirement of Mrs Wade at the end of the summer term.

    ● Bilton Junior School – Mrs Webb, Acting Headteacher

We have asked Ed to work with the existing leadership team, across each of our schools, to identify, develop, and grow the talent and experience that already exists. His new role will further support our ambition for the federation to be united in building an ambitious learning community for Bilton that provides an effective curriculum from EYFS to KS2.

During the autumn term, we hope there will be opportunities for Ed Newton to attend events across our schools, allowing him to start engaging with our community, as part of his induction.

I am sure you would all like to know more about our new executive leader, so I have asked Ed to offer a brief introduction, please see his introductory statement.

The governing body and I are delighted to welcome Ed to the Bilton Community Federation and know that you will also offer him a warm welcome.

If you have any questions, that our leadership teams cannot answer, then please contact me, via email: cullen.b@welearn365.com

    Yours sincerely,

    Bethan Cullen

    Chair of Governors
