Intent

Music is a big part of life at Bawnmore. We want children to love singing, making music, and listening to sounds. Music helps children feel happy, build friendships, and grow in confidence—part of our school’s golden thread.

Implementation

• Children have weekly music lessons using the Charanga scheme

• They sing, play instruments, clap rhythms, explore sounds and learn about music from around the world

• In Reception, music is taught through play and movement

• Music is also part of celebrations, assemblies and performances

Impact

By the end of Year 2, children:

• Sing confidently and keep a beat

• Play instruments with control

• Talk about music and how it makes them feel

• Are ready to enjoy more music in junior school

All children are included in music-making. We adapt tasks so every child can join in and feel proud of their musical learning.
