Aims and Values
Our Aims and Values
At Bawnmore, our aims, values and ethos are at the centre of everything we do. They guide how we teach, how we learn and how we care for one another, creating a happy, safe and nurturing school where every child can thrive.
Our School Mission
Be READY. Always RESPECTFUL. Work together SAFEly.
These simple but powerful principles help our children grow into kind, responsible and confident individuals who are ready for each next stage of learning and life.
Our Values
- Care – for ourselves, others and our world
- Co-operation – working together and supporting one another
- Honesty – being truthful and taking responsibility
- Forgiveness – learning from mistakes and showing compassion
- Respect – valuing each other’s differences and beliefs
- Resilience – never giving up, even when things feel challenging
These values are woven through daily life at Bawnmore — from how we approach our learning to how we build relationships and resolve difficulties. They help our children to develop strong personal character and positive behaviour.
Our REACH Curriculum Principles
We believe every child can:
- Be Resilient – keep trying and bounce back from challenges
- Be Emotionally Literate – understand and manage feelings
- Be Aspirational – aim high and believe in themselves
- Be Communicators – express ideas clearly and listen well
- Be Happy – enjoy school and feel secure, valued and included
These principles help us to nurture not just academic success, but confident, well-rounded children who are ready for the wider world.
Positive Relationships at the Heart
At Bawnmore, positive relationships are the foundation of school life. We know that children learn best when they feel safe, cared for and connected to the adults and children around them. Staff model respectful relationships and work closely with families to support every child’s wellbeing and development. Our behaviour approach helps children learn to manage their emotions, solve problems calmly and make positive choices.
Our Curriculum
Our carefully designed curriculum supports every child to become an independent, curious and enthusiastic learner. Through rich, engaging experiences, we encourage children to ask questions, explore new ideas and develop a love of learning that stays with them for life. Our curriculum also helps children develop the wider personal and social skills they need to grow in confidence, independence and resilience.
British Values
We actively promote the fundamental British Values of:
- Democracy – making decisions together and sharing pupil voice
- Rule of Law – understanding why rules keep us safe and fair
- Individual Liberty – making safe choices and having a voice
- Mutual Respect – treating others with kindness and consideration
- Tolerance – learning about different beliefs and celebrating diversity
These values are taught through our curriculum, assemblies, behaviour policy, and wider school life. We help children to develop respect for others, understand right and wrong, and become positive citizens within our school and beyond.
