Friends Of Bawnmore Committee

Every parent and teacher is automatically a member of the FOB but it is run by a committee composed of a small, dedicated team of volunteer parents and members of staff who are elected at the AGM each autumn. Committee meetings are held once or twice a term in the school staff room. Last year we became a registered charity and we are in the process of composing our own Constitution. If you have a child at the school or if you are member of staff you are very welcome to come to any meeting. We meet to discuss what help is needed, to decide what to buy and to decide how to raise funds. Weekly newsletter entries keep everyone up to date on the many enjoyable and profitable activities that we organise.

Fundraising

The FOB organise events to raise money to provide equipment , or fund projects for the school that they are not able to fund from the general budget. We organise a number of events throughout the year such as Family Bingo Evening, Quiz Night, Spring, Summer and Christmas Fayres, Firework Evening etc.

In the last financial year (2007-2008) the FOB raised a grand total of £2,137.42. The money was spent on purchasing and installing fencing to secure the Key Stage One outdoor classroom. A £50 donation is made to each class per term (£900 per year in total) which each teacher uses to purchase additional resources for their class from their own ‘wish list’. We also funded Christmas presents for every child and an entertainer for the Christmas party. A 40th birthday souvenir pen was given to every child and the Year 2 leavers disco was also funded by the FOB.

The FOB maintains a list of helpers who do not belong to the full committee but who are willing to provide support at specific events or help with odd jobs such as photocopying, distributing letters, wrapping presents, labelling prizes for tombolas, etc.

If you want to learn more about the activities of the committee have a look at the minutes of our past meetings which are available in the School reception or can be viewed on line, but you must be logged on to use this facility.

We are always on the lookout for new committee members, especially dads, or even parents that are willing to add their names to a helper’s list. If you are interested in helping at any of the FOB events or in joining the committee at the AGM in the autumn please get in touch with one of our committee members or speak to our head teacher.

Bawnmore FOB is a member of the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations.
