About Us

The school is a Community Infant School situated in a pleasant residential area on the south-western outskirts of Rugby. There is an on-site pre-school, 'Bawnmore Cygnets' run by the school and managed by the governing body. At present this opens for morning sessions between 9 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. with a lunch club on a Wednesday until 12.30 p.m.

The building is purpose-built for early education incorporating airy, pleasant classrooms (most of which have direct access to a hard outdoor area). Each classroom is fitted with an interactive whiteboard. There is a central library and a large multi-purpose hall with both fixed and movable P.E. equipment. Recently a modular building was added to the school - 'The Rainbow Room'. This is a multi-functional space which is being used for the 'Cygnets' pre-school at present but at other times is used for drama, small group teaching, whole class ICT lessons and also meetings during and after school.

The school environment is a vital part of our teaching resources and incorporates lawns and trees, hedgerows, three vegetable beds, and two hard play areas.

Many clubs operate during the week and pupils are invited to join these as they move through the school. Year 2 pupils take part in Cheerleading and Choir on a Tuesday after school. The Football Development Service run clubs on Wednesday and Friday between 3.15 and 4.30 p.m. for pupils in Year 1 and 2. Reception pupils who are 5 years old may join in the summer term. Jaide runs a dance club on a Thursday between 3.15 and 4 p.m. for pupils in all year groups. On a Friday lunchtime, Year 1 pupils are invited to join our gardening club and grow a variety of plants, fruit and vegetables during the year.

Children come from a variety of Nursery Schools and Playgroups in Rugby. At the beginning of the Autumn Term, following their 7th birthday, children transfer to the Junior School stage of their education. Many of our children transfer to Bilton C of E Junior School. The two schools liaise closely to assist happy and efficient transfer.
